But the ophthalmologist that I consulted in 2003 suggested I wait a little bit for the surgery to get more refined. Well, the final straw came in October when I was on a trip with my mom. My right contact ripped and I forgot to bring a backup. I had to wear my glasses. In the rain. Riding a horse. I said forget it--its time. I had my consultation with Dr. Hamilton and was impressed. Being a nurse, I wanted to do my due diligence and get other opinions/consults. NOBODY came close to Dr. Hamilton and his staff. From the consult to the pre-op to the surgery to the post-op everything was top notch. I've been a nurse for over 20 years and am very picky about surgery centers, IV starts, patient education, etc and the entire team did an amazing job. And let me tell you! After the surgery. I. COULD. SEE. IMMEDIATELY. Immediately! Sure, it wasn't perfect because my eyes were as dilated as saucers but for the first time in 35 years, I COULD SEE! I didn't feel any pain at all, just the occasional fleeting sensation of like an eyelash in my eye. I woke up the next morning and felt like a character in a Dr. Seuss Book. " I can see the tree! I can see the bee! I can see the chair! I can see everywhere!" Dr. Hamilton is the best! THE BEST! THE BEST! THE BEST! SMILE eye surgery is single-handedly, undeniably the best decision I have ever made for my eyes, and I wish I had done it sooner. I was initially hesitant because I wasn’t informed… More about the procedure or its safety. However, Dr. Hamilton was phenomenal throughout the process and earned my complete trust. During the consultation he assessed my eyes, walked me through the procedure, and explained how to take care of my eyes post-op. I felt comfortable knowing I was in good hands. The procedure itself was only about 5 minutes for both eyes, and there was little down time. They numbed the eyes and there was absolutely no pain, just slight pressure. I went home and took a nap after the surgery, and I felt little to no discomfort on the eyes. I was perfectly okay the very next day, and I suddenly had perfect vision. I had no side effects during the post-op time frame, but Dr. Hamilton met with me after just to be sure.It has been over a year since I had the surgery, and I decided to write a review now because I am still blown away by the results. As someone who grew up wearing glasses and contacts, being able to see perfectly without glasses or contacts while getting up in the middle of the night or showering, swimming, and working out is priceless. I have nothing but amazing things to say about Dr. Hamilton and his team. I have worn glasses since I was 8 years old and contacts since probably around 13 years old. (I am 43 now for… More reference). My prescription was -12 in my left eye and -11 in my right eye with a stigmatism. Basically, if I didn't have my glasses on or my contacts in, I was blind as a bat but without the benefit of echolocation. For years, whenever I wore my glasses (if I had to) people would say "OMG! You're glasses are so thick!" etc. etc. I KNOW! I LIVE WITH THESE EYES. I had been toying around with the idea of eye surgery since 2003. Originally, I was thinking Lasik but after many consultations, I was just too nearsighted. My only real option was a lens implant (EVO ICL). But the ophthalmologist that I consulted in 2003 suggested I wait a little bit for the surgery to get more refined. Well, the final straw came in October when I was on a trip with my mom. My right contact ripped and I forgot to bring a backup. I had to wear my glasses. In the rain. Riding a horse. I said forget it--its time. I had my consultation with Dr. Hamilton and was impressed. Being a nurse, I wanted to do my due diligence and get other opinions/consults. NOBODY came close to Dr. Hamilton and his staff. From the consult to the pre-op to the surgery to the post-op everything was top notch. I've been a nurse for over 20 years and am very picky about surgery centers, IV starts, patient education, etc and the entire team did an amazing job. Dr. Hamilton came to check in on me before surgery and asked how I was doing, if I was worried about anything. I asked him what if he sneezed while he was working on my eye and accidentally lasered my eye out? I was half kidding but half serious and Dr. Hamilton laughed but then realized that my joke was probably not totally a joke and he turned serious and told me that wouldn't happen because of X, Y, Z. Incredible bedside manner. Dr. Tim was the anesthesiologist and administered the perfect amount of meds. Dr. Tim was so friendly and kind. I didn't feel anything during the surgery and wasn't nauseated afterwards (I am a lightweight so nausea happens frequently to me!). Jasmyn and Myra were so helpful at every step of the way. And let me tell you! After the surgery. I. COULD. SEE. IMMEDIATELY. Immediately! Sure, it wasn't perfect because my eyes were as dilated as saucers but for the first time in 35 years, I COULD SEE! I didn't feel any pain at all, just the occasional fleeting sensation of like an eyelash in my eye. I woke up the next morning and felt like a character in a Dr. Seuss Book. " I can see the tree! I can see the bee! I can see the chair! I can see everywhere!" Dr. Hamilton is the best! THE BEST! THE BEST! THE BEST! I found him via my own research, I was not referred, so this is a true testimonial! And whatever your eye issue is, it would be worth it to chat with him about the options. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Hamilton. I have had vision problems for most of my life, and finally decided to get permanent vision correction last year. I was having… More double vision and was facing a second strabismus surgery (which requires full sedation and a much longer recovery) when I made an appointment at UCLA Stein Eye Institute to discuss vision correction surgery. My case was too complicated for any of the surgeons there to take it on, but they recommended I go see Dr. Hamilton who is one of the most highly regarded in his field. Since my first appointment, Dr. Hamilton and his team have given me extremely personal care, holding my hand through every step of the process. I decided to move forward with ICL surgery and it was one of the best decisions ever. Despite having some complications (which are always a possibility with any surgery), Dr. Hamilton went above and beyond to make sure my eyes were corrected, keeping in touch with me personally over the past 10 months as we rounded out a revision surgery. I always felt that his office and his team were available to me and they always made sure to fit me in for short-notice appointments. Definitely felt like he genuinely cared and wanted me to have the best eyesight possible instead of the sales-pitch feeling of so many other places.The procedure itself was quick and painless. It is a bit freaky just 'cause you know what's going on, but Dr. Hamilton talked me through the whole thing and made it super easy. I had some pain that evening once the numbing drops wore off, but by the morning was all good. Distance vision was solid the morning after, close up took about 2 weeks to settle, but didn't get in the way of any work/activities. I did have one eye that was a bit more inflamed than the other for my day after visit, but we just upped the steroid drops on that side for a few days and everything healed up great!It's been a year and I love being able to see without grabbing for glasses or putting contacts in! Came here for LASIK in April 2022 after hearing good things about Dr. Hamilton. I have astigmatism and near sightedness and have worn contacts for most of my life. I was worried about dry eye post op but only experienced it during the first few weeks. Since then I haven’t had to use any eye drops.I highly recommend Dr. Hamilton for those looking to do LASIK!
