Garren’s LASIK Story: From Lifelong Glasses to Clear Vision

What is LASIK really like? For Garren, it was easier than he ever expected. He had worn glasses since he was a little kid. He chose Dr. Rex Hamilton at Hamilton Eye Institute in Beverly Hills to change that.

His video follows him from the laser suite to his first clear look at the world. If you live in Los Angeles and keep putting off LASIK eye surgery, Garren’s experience may sound familiar

What Happens During LASIK Surgery?

Garren arrived a little nervous, which is completely normal. Numbing drops kept his eyes comfortable, and a mild oral sedative helped him relax.

Before treatment, Dr. Hamilton captured a detailed image of Garren’s eye. The laser then matched his eye to that image, so the treatment lined up precisely.

Dr. Hamilton personally performed every step using bladeless laser technology. The procedure for both eyes took less than 15 minutes. Like many patients, Garren found the anticipation was the hardest part. When it was over, his reaction was simple: “That was so easy.”

How Soon Can You See After LASIK?

Vision is often hazy right after surgery, so Garren went home to rest for a few hours. When he woke up, the change was hard to miss.

“I can see. This is crazy. So worth it.”

At his follow-up visit the next day, Dr. Hamilton checked Garren’s vision. He was seeing 20/15, sharper than 20/20. “You gave me bionic vision,” Garren told him. “My eyes feel great.”

Every patient heals differently, and results vary. With LASIK, most patients achieve 20/20 vision or better, and many return to work the next day.

Is LASIK Worth It?

Ask Garren and the answer comes fast: “Wish I did it sooner.”

Like many patients, he had built up the procedure in his head. “You have all these preconceived notions about what it is, but it was so easy,” he said. “It wasn’t stressful at all. I couldn’t have done it with anyone better.”

After years in glasses, he was ready for the slopes. “Don’t need these anymore,” he said. “Let’s go skiing.”
